Air transport pilot for United Airlines. He was one of the flightcrew on the ill-fated United 811, which blew a cargo door and tore open a large portion of the fuselage over the Pacific ocean, on a flight from Hawaii to Auckland, NZ. Captains Slader and Cronin skillfully guided the crippled Boeing 747 back to a safe landing at Honolulu International Airport, saving the lives of over 300 passengers.
