Neva N. Cardiff

September 17, 1923 - January 15, 2005

SILVERTON- Neva was born to Mina and Clarence Sturm in Clayton, Kan. She grew up on a wheat farm near Clayton. Neva had two brothers, Shannon and Sharril, and three sisters, Naomi, Nedra and Dorothy. Just before Pearl Harbor, her family moved to the Willamette Valley. Once the war started and her brothers joined the service, Neva became a certified welder and worked at the ship yards in Portland. After the war she worked in merchandising for Lipman and Wolfe. During this time she married Chester Cardiff, who had returned to college after his discharge from the Navy.

Neva had two passions, the Lord Jesus Christ and her family. She served 29 years providing Christian education to children and many years as a 4-H leader. She also enjoyed music, sewing, gardening and all of the effort to work these together.

Neva is survived by her husband of 58 years, Chester of Silverton; daughter, Nedra Ester of Portland; sons, Benny Cardiff of Redding, Calif., Denis Cardiff of Portland, Rene Cardiff of Grants Pass and Dean Cardiff of Portland. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Contributions may be made to Children's Ministry, Lancaster Assembly of God Church.

Services are 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 20, 2005 at Lancaster Assembly of God. Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland at 3:00 p.m.
