Allen married his high school sweetheart Carol, on May 18, 1968. He was employed by Madison Gas and Electric for 37+ years.
Allen is survived by his wife, Carol (Hying) Bartels; his children, Brian (Tammy) Bartels, Laura (Tim) Baker, Karen (Chris) Kleine and Brent Bartels; grandchildren, Nathan and Nicole Bartels; Megan (fiancé, Justin), Emily (Mitch) Paap and Grace Baker; and Emma and Natalie Kleine and Cash Bartels; siblings, Diane, Charlie and Mike (Sherry) Bartels; and best friends, Steve and Maureen Kraak (whom he was scheduled to take the Badger Honor Flight with on April 8, 2023).
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Chad (March 1973); and his parents, Hazel and Wilfred Bartels.
