Margaret (Peggy) Parker Grauman, a longtime LA philanthropist, died peacefully on February 13, 2023 after watching the Super Bowl. Peggy was born in Springfield Massachusetts, June 18, 1931 to Thomas Buckley and Margaret Claire Buckley. She graduated Smith College with a degree in American History and Art History. Peggy was a life long lover of music, especially the piano. She was an avid collector of miniature doll houses and antiques. Peggy was an accomplished tennis player and was a passionate fan of the Ram's Football team. Peggy also loved her cats and was an exceptional friend to many.
After moving to Los Angeles in 1957, with her first husband, Pat Parker, Peggy and Pat started their family. They had four children; Nancy, Holly, Susan and Streeter. Peggy began a long life of philanthropy. As a donor and volunteer at The Blue Ribbon, Diadames and numerous institutions, she committed herself to making the Los Angeles Music Center, LA Philharmonic, Wallis Center for the Performing Arts and various LA art museums grow into their prominence today.
She was a devoted wife to Walter E. Grauman, the legendary television director and love of her life, with whom she was seen every day at Hillcrest Country Club where they were beloved by members and staff alike. Walter created the Spotlight Awards with Peggy's support, and Peggy has continued her commitment to Spotlight and The Wallis with a "Grauman Fellowship" in his honor.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Nancy Parker, son Patrick (Streeter) Parker Jr. (Spouse, Jocelyn), Walter's daughter Amy G. Danziger (Spouse, Robert) and Paul Decker. In addition, Peggy has 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
