Funeral services for Golden Hawthorne, 74, were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 31, 1979, from the Ott and Lee Chapel in Forest. Interment was made in the Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. Rev. Marcus Alexander and Rev. Pat McClellan officiated.
Hawthorne died on Wednesday at Jackson, following an extended illness. He was a retired farmer and was a resident of Pearl for the past 25 years. He was a former resident for the Ludlow Community, and was a member of the First Baptist Church at Flowood.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie Hawthorne, of Brandon and Pearl; one son, Richard Hawthorne, Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Mrs. James (Margaret) Hurst, Jackson; one sister, Mrs. R. E. Porch, Forest; five grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild.
Pallbearers were Joe Denson, Hubert Shoemaker, Henry Gilbert, Claude Fitzhugh, Leon Fitzhugh, and Hubert Fitzhugh.
