Ellis W. Alexander, 69, of Long Beach died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 1994, in Long Beach. Mr. Alexander was a native of Long Beach and a retired courier for Hancock Bank. He was a member of Saucier Missionary Baptist Church, where he was an Adult Sunday School teacher for numerous years. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his father, George Ellis Alexander, a sister, Audrey Chiniche; and his stepfather, Robert Leggett. Survivors include his wife, Gladys E. Parker Alexander of Long Beach; two daughters and a son-in-law, Enid K. Alexander and Wanda L. and Ricky C. Gunter; his mother, Leona Alexander Leggett; a sister, Mrs. Carl E. (Gay) Bass, all of Long Beach; five brothers Kenneth L. Alexander of Pass Christian, Robert L. "Bobby" Leggett, Danny Leggett, both of Long Beach, Larry Leggett of Gulfport and Wayne Leggett of Santa Paula, Calif; a granddaughter, Lindsay R. Gunter; a grandson, Justin C. Gunter, both of Long Beach; 14 nephews; and 18 nieces. Friends called Thursday evening at Riemann Funeral Home chapel in Long Beach. A service will be today at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with burial in Allen Cemetery in Long Beach.
