Timm Merrill Dotson

Timm Merrill Dotson, 81, passed away on March 6, 2023 at home.

He was born to parents, now deceased, Shirley Merrill Fralick and Alan Lusby Dotson on May 24, 1941 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was pre-deceased by his younger sister Carole (1964).

Timm was a 1959 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School. He joined the Navy in 1960, serving as an aviation technician in New Iberia, LA. (Discharged 1964)

After serving in the Navy, Timm worked at Pacific Northwest Bell Bell/US West for 37 years, retiring from Business Special Services. He also volunteered with Lane County Search and Rescue as a recovery diver. He was a member and leader of the Boy Scouts of America throughout his life and an assistant leader on many 50+mile hikes on the PCT. He was a 50 year life-member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Springfield Elks. He volunteered with many organizations in children's services including the Smart Reading Program, and Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Timm also volunteered for the Eugene Community Response Team.

Timm and his crew were privileged to work for the UO Athletic Department Football Program for 25 years in Coach's Communications. He enjoyed working all the games, home and away, and was a true, loyal Duck.

Timm will be remembered for his love and commitment to serving the needs of children in the community, volunteering for the Elk's many charitable projects, traveling the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe, hiking and backpacking with the Scouts and US Forest Service, running local road races, his cheese potato casserole, collecting rocks for his wife, worldwide, driving his Ford Ranger pickup truck, and telling the stories of his adventures to all who would listen.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Mae) (Walton) of 33 years, sisters Nancy (Bill Glascock, d.2021), and Mollie (Dale Mathews), and brother Terry Dotson (Rosie) of Vancouver, WA, step-daughter Kim (Jeff Hall) of Seattle, WA., son, Kris Dotson, step-son Michael Carrigan of Cheyenne, WY., and step-daughter Meredith Carrigan. He leaves 9 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and close friends, Hank and Patty Gaut.

The family would like to thank the Hospice Organization and staff for their service, guidance, and kindness. Special thanks also to close friends Hank and Patty Gaut and Grandson Jacob Harold for their time, love, and care in Timm's final days.

A celebration of Timm's life is scheduled for April 8, 2023 at 3pm, at the Springfield Elks Lodge. Oregon Duck apparel is welcome. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite children's literacy or wellness program.
