Merle Luther Shepler, an employee of the Union Boiler Works, died suddenly at his home, 532 Hill Street, at 7 o'clock last evening as the result of a heart attack. His sudden death came as a shock to his family as he had returned home from his employment and eaten his evening meal, apparently in the best of health. He later collapsed on the second floor of his home and an ambulance was summoned when immediate efforts failed to bring a physician at once. The Good Samaritan Hospital ambulance responded and the victim of the attack was dead upon arrival at the institution. His death was attributed to a heart attack by Coroner W. H. Brubaker. Aged 40 years, Shepler was the son of the late Jacob and Minnie (Strohm) Shepler, and was a member of the Lebanon Lodge of Eagles, Maennerchor Club, Young Democratic Club and Perseverance Fire Company, Jonestown. He is survived by his wife, Florence (nee Helt); one son, James, both at home, and two half-sisters, Mrs. John Jacobs, Ridgewood, New Jersey, and Mrs. Frank Zemna, Palmyra.
