"And I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them."
- Revelation 14:13

With his loving family by his side, Donald Louis Cooper, Sr., of Trappe, Maryland, peacefully departed this earthly life on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, Maryland.

Son of the late George Henry and Maude Elizabeth Roberts Cooper, Donnie or "Coop," as he was affectionately called, was born in Easton, Maryland on March 14, 1952. He was a graduate of Easton High School's class of 1971. After graduation, Donnie worked several jobs, including caretaking and employment with Waverly Press. Eventually, he discovered his passion for security. He was gainfully employed by Black & Decker as a Lieutenant-ranking Security Officer, contracted through Pinkerton Security for 10 years, a devoted Security Officer and Mentor to students at the Easton Middle School for 25 years, and enjoyed a 30-year tenure as a Salesman at Fred Frederick. Donnie was also part-owner of Cooper Trash & Removal Services.

Donnie lived a fulfilled life. He had a strong work ethic and firmly believed you could not play hard without working way harder. In his spare time, he loved being surrounded by and cooking for family, enjoyed collecting firearms, had a passion for vehicles, and had a great fondness for dogs and horses. His greatest joy was the impact he had during his years at the Easton Middle School. "Mr. Coop" is a name engraved in the hearts, memories, and childhoods of countless students. He took pride in seeing students flourish into successful men and women, who would go on to have their children walk through the doors of Easton Middle School in the years to follow.

...

In addition to his late parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his brother, George Nathaniel "Lovie" Cooper.

This world was forever changed by Coop's presence and lasting impression. You cannot help but smile and share a fond memory if someone says the name, "Donnie." His legacy will live on through the endless memories of those who were blessed enough to know him. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."

That being said, it is beyond a shadow of a doubt that Donnie has earned his peaceful rest.
