He married Nora Duncan van Gricken and they had two children together. He then married Gertrude Mabel Bond on 28 November 1928 in Caister-on-Sea, Norfolk. He died on 3 August 1946 in Southampton, Hampshire, at the age of 73. He survived and is buried with both his wives.
