Dorothy Mae Hill, 97, a lifelong resident of Star City, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Morgantown on August 23, 1925, the daughter of the late James and Irene Cooley.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, George W. Hill; brother, Donald Cooley; and sisters, Ruth Stabene & Virginia Kotopka. She is survived by her sons, Allen Keith (Marcella) Hill & James Steven Hill; grandson Charles Cheatham; beloved Golden Retriever Joshua; and 10 nieces & nephews.

While still able, Dorothy enjoyed traveling and Sunday drives in the the tristate area. Time spent with family and friends was precious to Dorothy, making it no surprise that holidays and social gatherings were an important part of her life.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of WVU Hospice, who showed Dorothy the same care and compassion she reserved for her family and friends.

Friends and family are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 10 AM until the time of service at 12PM with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Following the service, Dorothy will be laid to rest at Mt. Union Cemetery.
