He was a graduate of Deerfield Academy in 1950 and of Yale University in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1954 to 1956. He worked in market research most of his business life and was Director of Market Research at Pitney Bowes. In retirement he volunteered his time as Parish Administrator at Saint Luke's Church and worked at Rowayton Hardware Store until 2002. He served as class agent of the Class of 1950 at Deerfield Academy from 1978 until the present. His greatest joy was volunteering at Norwalk Hospital, where he eventually became the chairman of the volunteers in the Ambulatory Surgery Department, a group that has given comfort and encouragement to countless surgical patients and their families.
He was survived by his wife, Margaret, of Norwalk; his sons Albert M. III and Andrew S. and a daughter, Allison B. Ross Hofstetter.
