Hutton began his newspaper career in 1895 with the Mexico Ledger, which at one time was owned by his father, Col. John Hutton, a prominent Audrian County political leader. He came to St. Louis ten years later, and after working on the old St. Louis Republic, joining the Globe-Democrat in 1917.
Born and educated in Mexico, Missouri, he served as a Captain in the Spanish-American war. Mr. Hutton specialized in editorials on farm and military problems.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Laura Fritts Hutton, he is survived by two sons, Edward Hutton of Pittsburgh, and John Hutton, who lies in St. Louis.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Tues. Jan. 14) in Precht Funeral Home in Mexico at 2 p.m.
