Catherina Holtzman married Leonard Wengert about 1841 in Germany and they had five children together before he died. Catherina then married Rev. John D. Boegner and with the children they left on a French sailing vessel across the Atlantic for a six week trip which ended at Quebec, Canada. Catherina was very ill on the trip and it was doubtful she would set foot on American soil but pulled through and they settled at Waterloo, near Kitchener. After a few years and the birth of a daughter they moved to near North Branch, Lapeer Co., MI. In 1861 Catherina gave birth to a son and in 1864 her two oldest sons, Michael and Frederick joined the Union Army and she had to endure the pain of the death of the youngest of the two, Frederick.
On her burial plot record, it stated she died of cancer, at the age of 49.
On the base of her headstone there are four German words one on each side and here is the meaning in English. Glaobe - "Faith", Hoffnung - "Hope", Liebe - "Love", Wiedersehen - "See you again"
