Lloyd Kenneth Thrasher, a lifelong area resident of Anderson, Missouri departed this life on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at his home, at the age of 93 years.
Lloyd was born on February 22, 1915 in Anderson, Missouri to the late Charles Cullen Thrasher and Dela (Slagle) Thrasher. On September 24, 1934 in Bentonville, Arkansas he was united in marriage to Opal Ethel Bryant and to this union two sons and one daughter were born. Throughout his life he farmed and operated Thrasher Sawmill. He was an avid outdoorsman where his favorite activities were hunting and fishing. He often entertained his family and friends by telling stories of years gone by.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Opal E. Thrasher on October 19, 1996; an infant son, Gerald Lloyd Thrasher; a granddaughter, Marcia Ann Robinson; three brothers, Joe, Bill and Jack Thrasher; and three sisters, Georgia (Jo) Thrasher Rubey Haller, Vivian Vancil and Juanita (Nita) Thrasher Walter .
Lloyd is survived by a son, Darrel Thrasher and his wife, Nellie, of Anderson, Missouri; a daughter, Joyce M. Harp and husband, Oliver, of Anderson, Missouri; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Thrasher and wife, Joyce, of Anderson, Missouri; a sister, Vicki Simmons of Wichita, Kansas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Lloyd Kenneth Thrasher are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Rev. Arlis Thrasher officiating. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Steve Harp, Kenny Harp, Roger Harp, Ethan Harp, Andy Robeson, Mark Thrasher and Chance Bryant. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to the New Bethel Cemetery Care Fund and contribution may be left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
