Taught Bricklaying
The funeral of Samuel R. Micara of 272 20th St., a member of of the executive committee of ILocal 1, Bricklayers Union and an instructor at the Bricklayers Apprentice School, was held today from the Anthony M. Scarpaci Funeral Home, 711 4th Ave. A solemn mass of requiem followed at St. ohn [sic] the Evangelish R. C. Church, 21st st., near 5th Ave.
Mr. Micara was fatally injured Saturday afternoon when the cornice of a three-story building on 5th Ave., between 19th and 20th Sts., fell on him as he was passing by. He died less than an hour at Methodist Hospital.
For many years Mr. Micara had been interested in union activities and was a teacher at the Bricklayers Apprentice School 168 Douglas St. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Micara, four children, Frank, Carmella, Samuel and Joseph Micara; his parents, Frank and Camilla Micara; three brothers, Anthony, Peter and James Micara and six sisters, Mrs. Santa Pergolizzi, Mrs. Florence Del Monico, Mrs. Rose Ambriano, Mrs. Eleanor Schiatta, Mrs. Frances Imperiale and Mrs. Josephine Puglisi.
