Alice Ann Torkelson Barbre died at home surrounded by her family on March 23, 2023, after a year-long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
She was born on August 4, 1939, in Rolfe, Iowa, to Fae Green and Torkel B. Torkelson.
Alice loved playing the piano at her home and singing in the senior choir at The Woodlands First Baptist Church.
Alice cherished her family consisting of her five children and their spouses/significant others: Jeannie Rene' (Ray) Timmerman, Wendy (Tim) Thorshov, David (Angela) Barbre, Mark Barbre, and Angela (Chip) Bates; 13 grandchildren: Holly Prentice, Kaleb Thorshov, Rachel (Ryan) Parker, Emily (Carolynne Weller) Thorshov, Rebecca Thorshov, Mari (Aaron) Alford, Megan (Noah Dunn) Barbre, Jessica (Hayden Rodriguez) Barbre, Christi Barbre, Brooke (Carlton) Baillie, Jaden Bates, Kaleigh (Austin) Schweiker, Keaton (Chloe Wilborn) Bates; and two great-grandchildren: Payton and Landyn Baillie.
She also loved her siblings: Karen Barbre, David (Joyce) Torkelson, and Laurie Reynolds.
Also, Ryan Idom (foster son of Mark Barbre), and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Barbre, daughter-in-law Paula Brumley Barbre, and sister Mary Kuhens.
We would like to extend our appreciation to Alice's caregivers who provided loving care: Crystal Markham, Shari Lancaster, and Jeannette Chapnick, as well as the nursing staff at Elara Care Hospice.
A visitation for Alice will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A committal service will occur Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384.
