Velma Gaye Whitaker, 76, of Modesto died Monday Dec 4, 1995 at Doctors Medical Center. Mrs. Whitaker was a native of Lamar County, Tx. She had lived in Modesto since 1978. She was a clerk and bookkeeper at Foremost Foods, Hughson, from 1958 to 1978. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Hughson and Teamsters Local 748. She is survived by her son, Michael C. Whitaker of Ripon; brothers, R.C. Smallwood of Riverbank, Robbie Hall of Modesto and Don Smallwood of Covelo; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday Dec 7, 1995 at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson.
