Paul Jesse Messerli, age 95, of Council Bluffs passed away March 20, 2023.

He was born in Morgan County, Missouri on September 22,1927, to the late Karl and Grace (Dunnaway) Messerli. Paul retired from MFT Construction in 1982. He married Ruth Goodman on October 2, 1946 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Council Bluffs. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII.

Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Dinkel; brothers: Charles, William, Loyd, and Alfred Ray.

He is survived by his son, Michael (Linda) Messerli of Bella Vista, Ak.; daughter, Connie (Steve) Lauver of Council Bluffs; 4 grandchildren: Tammi Martin (Mike), Todd Messerli (Becky), Michelle Schaeffer (Brent), and Renee Lauver; 10 great-grandchildren: Erick Martin (Kayla), Alex Martin (Haley), Chad Martin (Kye), Marie Messerli, Mitchell Messerli, Peter Messerli, Claire Messerli, Jordan Schaeffer (Alyssa), Emily Hestness, and Allison Schaeffer; 4 great-great-grandchildren: Wesley Mueller, Crew Mueller, Kashton Schaeffer and Nellie Martin; brothers, Ralph Messerli (Linda), Larry Messerli (Sue), Kenny Messerli, brother-in-law Richard Dinkel, and sister-in-law Lil Messerli.

Rosary will be at 6:00PM Thursday at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel with visitation to follow until 8:00PM. Funeral will be at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 10:00AM Friday. Luncheon will follow graveside services at the Walnut Hill Reception Center. Family will direct memorials.
