RADECKI Reverend Albin A. Reverend Albin A. Radecki, 84, retired Roman Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Toledo, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, in his home. He was born on November 17, 1923, in Toledo, Ohio, to Frank and Stella (Tobaka) Radecki, Sr. He began his education at St. Hedwig School before entering Central Catholic High School, Toledo, and St. Mary's College, Orchard Lake, Michigan. He went to Mt. St. Mary's Seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio, and took summer courses at the University of Notre Dame and the Catholic University. Father Radecki was ordained to the priesthood on Ascension Thursday, May 26, 1949 by the Most Reverend Karl J. Alter, at Our Lady Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral. Father Radecki has served as an assistant at St. Adalbert, Toledo, St. Anthony, Toledo, St. Hyacinth, Toledo, and St. Richard, Swanton. In 1965 Father Radecki received his first appointment as a Pastor of St. John, Continental, and with a mission at St. Joseph Church in North Creek, St. Anthony, Toledo, St. Mary Magdalene, Rossford, and finally St. Adalbert Church, Toledo, retiring in 1993. He also served on the Diocesan Board of Consultors and was a Judge on the Diocesan Tribunal. Father Radecki is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Frank. He is survived by his sisters, Helen Szteiter, Gainesville, TX, Leonard Radecki, Grand Rapids, MI, Richard Radecki, Fountain Valley, CA, Emilie Callahan, Esther Mielcarek and Chester Radecki, all of Toledo. Visitation will be Sunday, March 9, 2008 from 1-4 p.m. in the Gasiorowski-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1757 Tremainsville Rd. (at Sylvania Ave.) 419-474-8761. Father Radecki will be received in St. Adalbert Church, Monday, at 4 p.m. with a Vesper Service, followed with a visitation until 8 p.m.. Additional visitation at the church after 9 a.m. Tuesday until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with the Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair, Bishop of Toledo, officiating.
