Mrs. Rebeca Shumard Allen, a daughter of John and Rachel Shumard, was born Dec 24, 1842, and departed from this life August 22, 1932 at the age of 89 y, 7 m and 28 d.
She was united in marriage to Dr. Zachariah Allen, Mar 28, 1861. To this union four children were born. Her husband and 3 children, Oscar E., Walter and Ethel Allen preceded her into the great beyond.
She leaves to mourn one son Oran B Allen of Alba, MO., fifteen grandchildren, fourty six great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
She was united with the Christian curch at Bessaidia when a child, later transferring her membership to the First Christian Church at Newton, where she lived until her death.
Funderal services were held Wednesday afternoon, Aug 24, at the First Christian Church, conducted by Rev A.O. Jacobs. Internement was at the Riverside Cemetery.
