Francis P. Gilbert, Hydraulic Engineer with the United States Engineer Office in Providence, Rhode Island died January 17, 1949 at the age of 57. He was born in Athol, Massachusetts and received his baccalaureate degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1914. In the early years of his career, he served in various sanitary and hydraulic engineering activities in the East and in World War I. Following the War, he engaged in sanitary and malarial control work in various parts of the country, and entered Federal Service in 1934 on hydraulic and hydrologic work.
