MIDDLETOWN - Michael D. Camire, 42, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Yale New-Haven Hospital. Born in Meriden on Christmas Day, 1973, he was the son of the late Linda Campbell Camire and Vincent Camire, of Middletown. He graduated in 1992 from Middletown High School and attended Manhattan Community College in New York City, N.Y. Those who knew Mike would recognize in him a kind and gentle heart and soul. He was a very private person and not wanting to trouble others, would keep his problems and emotions to himself. Yet Mike would always reach out to others to comfort them in times of need. Mike was always readily available to watch his nephews, and take them out to the library and Dunkin' Donuts. He enjoyed, and was excellent at teaching his nieces and nephews chess, to the point where they could often beat their parents at it. He had an incredibly broad range of interests, including politics, religion and history. As for his own religion, he once described himself as a Roman Catholic New York Yankees fan. He loved to read fantasy and science fiction. He was happiest among a crowd of family and his broad ranging discussions with his cousin Casey were legendary. He was considered the resident expert and champion at Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit, often forgoing the board to just trade questions with brother-in-law Andy. Mike will be remembered as a gentle giant of a man in all aspects of his person, and his absence will leave a large hole in all our lives... A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 5 Sherman Place, Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, on Wednesday, March 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael's name to the Russell Library, 123 Broad St., Middletown, CT 06457.
