Charlene J. Hurd, of Felton Delaware, went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2023. She was 76 years old. She was born in Dover, Delaware on November 3, 1946, to Harvey and Mildred Carrow of Smyrna, DE.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred M. Carrow, niece, Deborah Carrow, sister-in-law Sharon Carrow, brother-in-law John Hennessey, and her dear friend Judy Spencer.

In addition to her Father, Harvey Carrow Sr., Charlene is survived by her Brothers, Roger Carrow (Bertha Mae), Harvey Carrow Jr., a sister, Joyce Hennessey, a Daughter Shannon Gerardi (Neil), and two sons, Robert "Bob" Hurd Jr. and Dale Hurd (Camee), four Grandsons, Brandon Hurd, Grayson Gerardi, Hunter Gerardi, and Reed Gerardi, as well as two granddaughters, Ariana Hurd and Courtney Fries(Jake), a Great-Grandson, Lewis, as well as nieces and nephews Billy, Eric, Tammy, Alesha, Lindsay, Leslie, Patty Joyce Lynn, and many other extended family members. She is also survived by her long-time dear friend Dottie Chambers.

In her early years, Charlene attended Smyrna High School, and grew up on her father's farm in Smyrna, DE near the Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge. As a child she spent her days working on the farm, milking cows, and helping to feed the animals. She learned many things about hard work and sacrifice from her parents.

As a young woman, Charlene lovingly raised her three children, and worked various jobs as needed, until she landed a long-term position with MBNA Bank. After many years of employment with MBNA, she took an early retirement. After retiring, she went back to work for the State of Delaware, where she has worked for the last 15 years. She displayed a work ethic and sense of pride in her work that could not be easily duplicated.

Charlene loved to read, cook, and to play cards. She always looked forward to her card games with her friends Dottie & Judy, and loved preparing dinner for her family. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to reading, Charlene enjoyed watching General Hospital, Yellowstone, and any cooking show that she could find on television.

A viewing will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM on Thursday, April 6, 2023 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna Delaware. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
