Leda Barr passed away on March 27th at the age of 100 (137 by her account) at her daughter's home in Sanford FL, surrounded by family.
Leda was born August 22, 1922 in Lynn Massachusetts to Antonio and Mary Schiazza. She was a Registered Nurse (RN) at the New England Hospital for Women and Children, an Occupational Health Nurse at the Boston Naval Shipyard, a special duty nurse (before ICU) at multiple Lynn area hospitals, and served as a US Navy Nurse during World War II. She always said the best education she ever had was from her amazing mother, who was "one of a kind wonderful."
She loved her family, walking in the woods, her Carter Road neighbors through the generations, listening to opera, repurposing flowers from her "friends" in the cemetery, and of course her Boston Red Sox.
She was preceded in death by her long time sweetheart Carlo Sbarra, her brothers Robert and Ralph Schiazza, and her son Robert Barr. She is survived by her daughter Mary Robillard and son in law, Tom Robillard, three grandchildren and their spouses: Jaime Robillard and Ben Dubin, Carey and Michael Murphy, and Jeff Robillard and Georgina Mitchell, and one great granddaughter Idgie Murphy. She is also survived by her 95 year old sister Dahlia Dunn, numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have met her.
