Charles Elmer Nance, 98, passed away on January 1, 1997 at the Medical Lodge in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Charlie was born on May 31, 1898, the son of James Frederick Nance and Cora Emily Barber.

Charlie was a construction worker with M.W. Kellogge & Company and a US Army Veteran of World War I and World War II.

He married Pauline Elizabeth Hein on November 6, 1943, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. She survives at the home.

Survivors also include one daughter, Margaret Kitchen; one son, Charles F. Nance (Shirley) of Chandler, Arizona; daughter, Joyce Nance Woodcock (Harry) of Leavenworth, Kansas; and grandchildren, Robert K. Woodcock, Sarah Nance South, and Cheryl Nance; and several great-grandchildren.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sylvia A. Beck; son, Willard Charles Nance; daughter, Jane Allen Nance Bertelsen; and great-grand daughter, Michelle Lea Nance.

Burial will take place at Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, Kansas. Quisenberry Funeral Home of Tonganoxie, Kansas is in charge of the arrangements.
