Deceased Name: Glenn L. Sorensen Glenn L. Sorensen, 81, passed away on November 1, 2002, in American Fork, Utah. He was born on January 2, 1921, in Boise, Idaho, to Leo Tippetts Sorensen and Lillian Dimmick. Glenn graduated from Shoshone High School in Shoshone, Idaho in 1938. Upon graduation he continued farming with his father.

He was called to serve as a full-time LDS missionary in May, 1941 to the California Mission. It was while serving in California that he met his future bride, Alberta Farrimond. They were married September 4, 1943, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They had nine children. Alberta died on April 10, 1973.

He served in World War II with the 110th Combat Engineer Battalion stationed in Okinawa; it later became part of the 24th Corp of the Eighth Army. During his tenure with the 24th Corp he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant.

He purchased his own farm in 1955 in Dietrich, Idaho. He served as the president of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau for three years until 1959. His public service continued after his return from World War II when he was elected as the precinct committee member of the Republican Party from 1959-1967. In 1967 he was appointed as a replacement on the Dietrich Precinct County Commission. He was elected as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners in the next election and served in that capacity until 1975.

He married Lawana Cooper Hansen on July 9, 1974 in the Logan LDS Temple. She died on June 25, 1983. He married Colleen Clarke Austin in the Logan LDS Temple on May 18, 1985. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many capacities including: District President, High Councilor, Bishop, Stake Mission President, Ward Mission Leader, Branch President, Ward Clerk, Stake Canning Chairman, Counselor to Bishop, Priesthood teacher and a Temple Ordinance Worker. In addition to serving a full-time mission as a young man, he served the following missions with his wife and companion, Colleen: Santa Rosa California Mission in 1990 and supervisors of the LDS Employment Center for a seven stake region in Idaho in 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen; nine children - Loretta (Orin) Dilworth, Patricia (David) Mecham, Allen (Teela), Evan (Vivian), Leon (Mary), Sheila (Jerry) Sharp, Alden (Cherie), Delynn (Vickie) and Regina (Kenneth) Kemp; thirteen stepchildren; one hundred and one grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two wives Alberta and Lawana, his parents, two brothers Sherman and Vernon, two sisters Eileen and Kristine and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the American Fork Fifth Ward Chapel 381 So. 300 E.. Friends may call at Anderson & Sons Mortuary 49 E. 100 N., American Fork on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. or at 8:45-9:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.

Interment will be at the Shoshone Cemetery in Shoshone, Idaho on November 7, 2002 at approximately 4:30 p.m.
