Edith "Edie" Mae Silsby, 76, of Auburn, died at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Edie was born on September 2, 1946, in Beardstown, the daughter of Ernest and Iva (Pedigo) Chasteen. She married Lloyd Eugene "Gene" Silsby on March 30, 1962. He preceded her in death in 2006.
Edie worked as a nurse at Memorial Medical Center for over 20 years until her retirement in 2009. She enjoyed sewing and loved her pets with all her heart. Edie was a woman of strong faith and was a member of the Auburn Congregation of Jehovah's Witness. She was an amazing mother and always put her family first.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Frederick Silsby; daughter, Elizabeth Ann; and brothers, Ralph, Wayne, and Glen Chasteen.
The family will host a private graveside ceremony at a later date at Beardstown City Cemetery.
