Milo "Dean" Leonard, 86, of Blissfield passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, OH.
Dean was born on January 8, 1921, in Madison Township, Michigan, the son of Floyd and Amy (Grove) Leonard. He married Kathryn "Kate" Goetz in 1941. She preceded him in death in 1995. On Nov. 2, 1996, Dean married Yvonne LaVoy Reau. She survives.
Dean graduated from Adrian High School in 1939 and was a self-employed farmer for 45 years and resided at the same residence for 71 years in Palmyra Township. He retired from farming in 1979.
He served on the Blissfield Co-op Board and also the Lenawee Junction School board for several years. Dean was also an adjuster for Farmer's Mutual Hail Insurance of Iowa during his life.
He attended the Fellowship Bible Church of Adrian for most of his life, and he enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and spending winters in Sebring, Florida with his wife, where he also volunteered his time at Florida Hospital.
Surviving is his wife, Yvonne (LaVoy) Leonard, of Blissfield; two children, Linda (Mike) Marvin of Palmyra, MI and Dr. James (Cheryl) Leonard of Adrian, MI; 5 step-children, LuAnn (Layne) Fraley of Petersburg, MI, Jeanne (Steve) Hannum of Erie, MI, Pamela (Rick) Przeniczny of Lambertville, MI, Charles (Karen) Reau of Erie, MI and Lisa Benore of Temperance, MI; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Irene (Bill) Weinlander of Blissfield, MI; 8 sisters-in-law and 4 brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kathryn (Goetz) Leonard, granddaughter, Jodi, 2 brothers, Buzz and Bud Leonard, and a step-son-in-law, Randy Benore.
Funeral services for Dean will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield with the Rev. Edmund Burkey officiating. Burial will follow in Palmyra Cemetery in Palmyra Twp. Family and friends may call or visit the funeral home on Sunday from 2-9 p.m.
