She found strength in her faith and was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Delores always took an active role in her church and was a member of the St. Mark's Quilting Group. She had a quick wit and a mind of her own. Once her sights were set on something she could not be deterred. She had boundless energy. In her earlier days she enjoyed getting together with friends for card parties, golf, lunches, and socializing. Delores had an artistic ability and an ever-changing variety of interests. She was always eager to learn something new. Delores loved her family and family get togethers. We will all miss her smile, her hugs, and her delicious apple pies and pastries.
On May 19, 1951, she married the love of her life, Lowell Rice. They enjoyed 66 years together. He preceded her in passing on June 9, 2017. Delores and Lowell had three children, David (Joni Cartier) Rice, Colleen (Chris Vanevenhoven) Rice, and Gregory (Diane) Rice.
She is survived by her three children; grandchildren, Aaron Rice, Nick Monthei, Jordan Monthei, Sean Monthei; great-grandchildren, Liam Monthei, Nolan Monthei, Lincoln Monthei; brothers, Leon Klein, Daniel (Sandra) Klein, Kermit Klein; sister, Deanna (Don) Hallwachs; sisters-in-law, Leone Klein, Julie Klein, Janice Doney; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Delores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lowell; parents, Harry and Ella; siblings, Ivan (Marie) Klein Sr., Marvin (Florence) Klein, Eldon Klein, Harriet (Bob) Hooper, and Gene (Georgianna) Klein; father and mother-in-law, Norman (Pearl) Rice, brothers and sisters-in-law, William (Donna) VandenBush, Vernon Doney, and Mary Ann Klein.
Friends and family will gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11; Funeral Service to follow at 12 p.m. with Rev. John Parlow officiating.
