Frederick August "Fred" Hein, 79, of Basehor, Kansas died on December 29, 1968, at his home on Sunday afternoon.
He was born August 23, 1889, the son of Martin Ferdinand and Anna Catharina Augusta (Marxen) Hein. He had lived most of his life in the Basehor community.
Fred was a school teacher for 22 years. He had been in the construction business until he retired two years ago. He had worked as custodian at the Basehor High School for a short time. He was a member of the Basehor Methodist Church and held many offices there including Sunday School superintendent.
On May 6, 1915, Fred married Winnifred Stephenson in Basehor, Kansas; they were married for 53 years.
Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Winnifred Hein of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Nance, Basehor; a son, Robert W. Hein, Basehor; two brothers, Edward Hein, Basehor and Peter Hein, Phoenix, Arizona and 5 grandchildren, Charles F. Nance, Joyce Nance, Linda Hein, Sandra Hein, and Carolee Hein.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Basehor Methodist Church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor. Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, Kansas is in charge of arrangements.
