James O. Black Jr., age 77 of Tunnel Hill, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023. He was born to the late James Oliver Black Sr. and Mattie Elizabeth Brown Black in Ringgold, was a lifelong resident of the Catoosa Co. area and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
James served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from Paramount Printing after more than 14 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed.
James is also preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Seymore Black; sisters, Nell Jones, Pauline Yates, and Shirley Black; brothers, Bo Roland Black and Thomas Black; and son-in-law, Dale Adams.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Regina Adams; sons, Timothy James Black and Robert Nathan (Vickie) Black; sister, Doris Hester; brother, Charles Black; grandchildren, Justin Scott (Jerrica Bowling) Adams, Katie Lee (Kayla) Adams, Whitney (Patrick) Goff, Jamie Black, Andrew Black, and Alisha Black; great grandchildren, Madilyn, Ronan, and Amari, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, April 14, 2023 in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Danny Henson officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on Thursday, and 10:00 am until the service on Friday.
