W. Wheeler, 16; in accident
William Laurence Wheeler Jr., 16, of Chula Vista, was killed Saturday while working on a car when the jack apparently slipped and the car fell on him. He was found about 7:30 a.m. lying under the car in a National City parking lot.
A memorial Mass was Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Cremation was planned, with scattering of the ashes at sea under the direction of Humphrey Chula Vista Mortuary.
Wheeler was a Chula Vista native and a lifelong resident. He at tended Bonita Vista High School and had done masonry work for American Marine Deck Systems.
His parents, William L and Sydney Jeanne Wheeler; six sisters: Teresa Zumwalt and Catherine, Helen, Patsy, Vickie and Mary Wheeler; four brothers: Clyde, Michael, Robert and Joseph, ail of Chula Vista; and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Black and Goldie King, all of San Diego, survive.
