Evelyn was the daughter of Claude Beck, a tile factory worker, and Gertrude Shuman Beck. She grew up in the picturesque village of Uhlerstown in Tinicum Twp., Bucks Co.

She married John Gordon Reid on July 4, 1936 in Phillipsburg, Warren Co., New Jersey. The marriage lasted for 67 years.

Evelyn's daughter Audrey Doreen Reid died at seven months. She also had a son, two beloved granddaughters and a great-grandson as of early 2009.

She spent most of her married life living in Lambertville, Hunterdon Co. She worked for General Motors in Ewing Twp., Mercer Co., New Jersey for nearly 30 years.

Evelyn had a devastating stroke towards the end of her life, leaving her unable to care for herself. She moved into the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Twp., Hunterdon Co. and lived out her remaining years there.

Evelyn was a lovely woman who cared greatly for her family and those around her. She had a difficult time at the end, but she remained socially active to the best of her ability, and visitors could see how appreciative she was that they had taken the time to stop by.
