Clark Sherman Chamberlain lll was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and beloved friend to everyone he met throughout his life. He passed away peacefully while asleep on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the age of 89.

Clark was a funny, smart, lovable, and extremely humble man, with a twinkle in his eyes and a gentle smile on his face. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures, was always ready with a handshake, an ear to lend, willing to share a kind word, or story with everyone.

He was born in Detroit, MI on September 20, 1933, to parents Clark Sherman Chamberlain ll and Betty Ann Holt (Chamberlain) Davenport.

Clark was the devoted husband of sixty-seven years to Janet Kay Chamberlain who preceded him in death on March 4, 2021. He was the loving Father of two children, Debby White (Dennis) of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Clark Chamberlain IV (Bernadine) of Rudyard, MI.

Clark was also the proud grandfather to six grandchildren, Travis White (Jane) of Calumet, MI., Kayleigh White of Hancock, MI., Christopher Chamberlain of Sault Ste. Marie, Rachel Dawn Chamberlain (Jeff Quillen) of Princeton, IA, David Chamberlain of Rudyard, Clark Chamberlain V (Joelle) of Pickford, MI, and he was blessed with six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph, Jackson, Allison, and Clark Sherman Chamberlain VI of Pickford, and Alexander Quillen Chamberlain of Princeton. Clark is also survived by a younger half-brother, LaVerne A. Davenport Jr.

Clark attended Eastern High School in Lansing, MI. Some of his early jobs while still in school were delivering newspapers, trimming, and selling Christmas trees, and doing mechanic work on cars out of his parents' garage. After high school, he got a sales tax license under the name of Clark's Garage and started his own business for a brief period prior to attending U of M. Shortly after starting college, he had to leave due to a lengthy illness and recovery period.

It was during this time that Clark met and fell in love with Janet when they met one night at the Lansing Rollerdrome. They were married in August 1954. Throughout their years, Clark and Janet most enjoyed quiet moments shared together, holding hands, stolen kisses, walks on the beach, mornings in the garden, traveling, and a lifetime of memories they created throughout their years together.

Clark started working with the State of Michigan as a Photo Stat Operator and was later promoted to the position of Supervisor of the State of Michigan Tourist Information Center in Sault Ste. Marie. He retired at the age of 50 and he and Janet moved to Florida in 1984.

Together, they would travel back to Sault Ste. Marie each summer and Clark would work part-time as a deckhand and narrator on the Nokomis for the Soo Locks Boat Tours. One of the things Clark loved most was sharing stories with friends and co-workers and making new connections with the tour boats' passengers.

In Clark's younger years, outdoor sports included roller skating, rollerblading, biking, golfing, playing tennis, and metal detecting. He also loved cars, four-wheeling, and motorcycling with his wife, son, and grandsons, Road trips, picnics, sightseeing, and exploring new places were a way of life.

Clark had an incredible love and knowledge of music and played keyboard, organ, and harmonica. He also liked writing and singing songs with his family and writing poetry and short stories.

He loved get-togethers with friends, but he cherished most the time spent with his family. He will be forever loved and sadly missed by his family and friends.

Always one to embrace and celebrate life, Clark asked that there not be a funeral but rather a celebration of his life with a private graveside service later.

Family members ask that anyone wishing to gift Clark with a memorial contribution, may do so with a donation to the Alzheimer's Association with their deepest thanks.
