George P. Maines of Elting Road died suddenly Thursday evening. Born in Kingston he was the son of the late Phillip and Wilhelmina (Grube) Maines. Mr. Maines had been employed for many years at the local freight house of the New York Central Railroad and following his retirement had been employed by the Ulster County Highway Department. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Rosendale. He is survived by his wife, the former Agnes Sittman, four daughters, a sister, Mrs. Lulu Walczak of Kingston; and two brothers, Phillip of Michigan and Louis of Kingston. Eleven grandchildren and a great grandchild also survive. The funeral will be held at the Jenson and Deegan Funeral Home Inc., 15 Downs St., Monday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Alvin Messersmith, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
