"Lt. Col. Francis A. "Brud" [sic] Chilson, 85, of Bradenton, died March 15, 1996, in Columbia Blake Medical Center. There will be no visitation. Service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Ave. W. Memorials may be made to Church of The Annunciation, 4408 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach, Fla. 34217. Burial will be in Fogartyville Cemetery.
Born in Burrville, Tenn., Mr. Chilson came to Manatee County in 1910 from Seneca, Mo. He was a member of Sigma Nu social fraternity and a former football coach at Manatee High School. He was Episcopalian. He was [sic]U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He landed on Utah Beach in Normandy on D-Day, and went on to become commander of the 519 Military Intelligence Battalion at Fort Bragg, N.C.
He is survived by his sister, Martha Sparkman of Bradenton."
