John Nathan "John John" Colmes, 37, Boston, Mass., formerly of Brownsville, Pa., passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Faulkner Hospital in Boston after an extended illness.

He was born October 5, 1970, in Brownsville, son of Mildred Colmes and the late John J. Colmes, a former deacon at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Brownsville.

He graduated from Brownsville Area High School where, as an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan, his passion was to make football plays for the team.

He later went on to graduate from California University of Pennsylvania's School of Business Administration. At "Cal" he was a member of the ACACIA Fraternity.

John briefly worked at County Seat and Moss Super Market until he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1991.

He was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Brownsville, where he was active in the Sunday School and the Men's Chorus. John relocated to the Boston area in 1999 to be with his family due to his illness. He was a member of Twelfth Baptist Church in Roxbury.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Charles R. Wiley.

In addition to his loving mother, he leaves to cherish his memory four sisters: Mildred Dianne Mills (Percy) of Whitsett, Pa., Maxine Wiley and Marva Drew-Cox (Leonard) of Boston, Mass. and Ethel S. Warren of Northern California, also Frank "Butch" Drew and Jeremy Warren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the MS Society.

Friends may visit with the family today, 6 to 8 p.m., at MOUNT LEBANON BAPTIST CHURCH, Baltimore Street, Brownsville, and may attend a funeral service at the church on Wednesday, 11 a.m., with Dr. Herman B. Jackson officiating and Rev. Nathaniel Walker eulogizing. Interment at LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. Funeralization by the LAW FUNERAL HOME.
