Matthew Richmond Hansman, 33 of West Des Moines, Iowa passed away December 24, 2022. Matthew was born to Joseph Leo Hansman, Jr and Elizabeth Eddy Hansman in Edina, MN on November 22, 1989. As a boy growing up in Minnesota and Wisconsin he was curious, rambunctious, willful and was known for his fierce loyalty to all he called friend. He graduated from Wayland Academy, Beaver Dam, WI in 2008.
Matthew followed in his father's footsteps to the automotive industry in 2014. He was a Finance Manager at Stew Hansen Dodge and had been in the car business at various positions and locations within the Garff group as well as with Reliable Motors in Des Moines and Rudy Luther in MN. The success he attained in this industry was a source of pride as were his achievements in powerlifting.
He became a father to Gianna Faye Hansman December, 2021 and married Abigail Marie Smith January 2022. He adored his wife and daughter.
Matthew was a son, a brother, a husband, a father and beloved. He had an infectious baritone laugh and an ear-to-ear smile; a nearly photographic memory and magnetic charm. When in sobriety he was a great leader while active in the AA community where his service work and story helped many others struggling with addiction.
Matthew never ended a phone call with a loved one without saying, "I love you". It is something that his father brought with him from his experience of losing his brother in a car accident at a young age. They were the last words his mother and sister heard from him. His memory will be cherished always.

He is survived by his wife Abigail Marie Hansman, daughter Gianna Faye Hansman, mother Elizabeth Richmond Eddy and sister Hillary Hansman Hacker (Jason Hacker); nieces Charlotte Lee Hacker and Olivia Jo Hacker as well as a large extended family of relations and friends.
Visitation will be held at Iles Westover Funeral home, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday, January 5 from 5-7pm, a service of celebration will be held at noon Friday, January 6 at The Mission Church, 12001 Ridgemont Drive, Urbandale, Iowa.
