Mrs. Rita was born on December 21 in Hanging Rock, Ohio. to her parents, Louis A. Farmer and Mildred Jones Farmer. She passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 in Lake Charles.
Mrs. Rita was a founding member of the Humane Society of West Louisiana and remained extremely active in the Humane Society for more than 20 years. She never said no to a fur baby in need. Mrs. Rita worked tirelessly to plan events, secure donations, advocate and do anything she could to help provide a safe place for animals. She worked with many rescue organizations both local and out of state to ensure that animals could find a home. Mrs. Rita loved her family and made many memories with them working by her side to rescue animals. Mrs. Rita had a passion for taking care of others, animal or human; she was always willing to help anyone in need. She dedicated her life to saving others; she had a servant heart and was a true rescue hero.
She is preceded in death by her, parents, Louis Farmer and Mildred Farmer; husband, David Bingham and sister, Barbara Shoaf.
