James Eldon Hendley, son of the late Joseph Henry Hendley and Vaneta Proffer Hendley of Aquilla, Missouri, was born January 7, 1951 AD, in Cape Girardeau and departed this life on April 18, 2023, at Southeast Health Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 72.

Mr. James Hendley was a farmer and rancher on Bootheel Angus Farm, which is one of Missouri's Century Farms. James was the fifth generation to own and operate Bootheel Angus Farm. He enjoyed showing cattle at the fairs throughout the area.

In 2010, James was appointed and served almost a year as Stoddard County Clerk. Later he hosted a local show, called Hometown Heroes, where he interviewed local veterans, especially World War II veterans. Janes was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, and he loved the Lord. James enjoyed hunting, riding horses, and camping, especially with his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending school activities and sports activities of his grandchildren. James will be remembered for his sense of humor, practical jokes, and teasing nature.

On June 10, 1989, he was united in marriage to Frances Hudson Balchin in Elbert County, Georgia.

James was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Cody James Hendley.

Visitation will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, Missouri on Sunday April 23, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the funeral following on Monday 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church.
