Maxine Duke Miller, 83, passed away on Monday, April 17th, 2023, while resting peacefully in her bed at Beehive Homes in American Fork, Utah. At 9:00 that morning, she finished her breakfast and suddenly announced that she wanted to go home. The aids took her to her bed where she closed her eyes and never opened them again. She drifted into eternity like an autumn leaf gently falling to the ground.

She was born on February 1, 1940, in Provo, Utah to Loran Wells Duke and Mary 'Marie' Edwards (Gurr) Duke. She was the eighth of nine children, but only a few minutes younger than her twin sister Maurine. Her brothers and sisters were her best friends throughout her life.

She met her husband Dale Brady Miller while organizing a church dance. They dated, fell in love, and were married for Time and for all Eternity on December 2, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they brought ten children into the world, six boys and four girls. Her youngest son, Andrew died while a child from Leukemia. Dale died on March 13, 2017, from pneumonia.

Maxine was raised in Orem, Utah, under the shadow of Mt Timpanogos. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem, Utah and attended Brigham Young University. She loved singing, dancing, and acting. She shared these gifts with everyone she met. She was actively involved in community theater, on the stage as well as at American Fork Cemetery Pageants. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving as a Primary Chorister, teacher, and activity leader for much of that time. She had a gift with children and was able to get them to enjoy the songs of Zion.

Some of her other favorite hobbies were reading scriptures, conference talks, and practically any romance book that she could find. She loved vacationing at Heritage Acres near the small town of Duck Creek Village in Kane County, Utah every Independence Day. She especially loved the flag-raising ceremony and was so proud of her brothers and husband who had served in the military to defend our freedoms.

Survivors include Stephen and Edna Miller, Paul Miller and Sharyl Cushing (divorced), Brent and Letia Miller, Karen Miller Burgess, Connie Miller Stevens, Judy and Lorne Behrend, Aaron and Jackie Miller, Julie and Brian Prothero, and Nathan and Dawna Miller. She had thirty-six grandchildren and forty-one great-grandchildren at the time of her passing.

Friends and family are invited to come and pay their respects from 8:45 to 9:45 on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Anderson & Sons Mortuary American Fork Chapel, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Utah 84003. Funeral services will follow thereafter at 10:00 a.m. She will be interred in the Orem City Cemetery at 1520 N. 800 E. Orem Utah 84097. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband and just a few feet from her son Andrew.
