Monmouth ME - Jake Earl Baker

Jake Earl Baker, 78, of Whittier Lane passed away Sunday, September 23, 2997 at Maine General Medical Center with his family at his side.

He was born in Calais on October 5, 1928, a son of Alden and Vera Gaddis Baker.

Jake was employed at the A& P Tea Company and the HP Hood Company and owned and operated Boynton's Market in Hallowell for 17 years. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Canabas Council 1299 of Gardiner and a communicant of the St. Joseph Church in Gardiner.

He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Baker.

Jake is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine Gilson Baker of Monmouth; five sons: Michael Baker and his wife Wilma of Pittston, Gregory Baker and his wife Susan of Pittston, Steven Baker and his wife Jean of Pittston, Richard Baker of Hallowell, and Matthew Baker and his wife Tammy of Gardiner; his brother Dexter Baker of Augusta; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on September 27 at St. Joseph's Church with burial following at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Gardiner.
