Lucile was born November 11, 1931, in Aransas Pass, Texas to James Albert Farley and Eula Gladys (Garner) Farley, and passed on April 20, 2023 after a sudden illness.
Lucile and her husband, Johnny, were married in Aransas Pass on May 29, 1949 and lived in Sour Lake, Texas from 1958 until 1975 when they moved to White Oak. Lucile owned a business, Lucile's Little Yarn Shop, in Sour Lake, and was a top-selling Avon representative in White Oak for many years, but her most important role was wife to Johnny, and mother of four, grandmother of seven, great-grandmother of eight, and great-great grandmother of five.
She was a former member of First Christian Church in Aransas Pass, then First Christian Church in Sour Lake, and finally a member of Longview Christian Church where she was a constant presence in the nursery for many years, and loved by generations of children. The angel blankets she crocheted were famous among her family and church members. She was also active in the formation of Longview Interfaith Hospitality Network (now Family Promise of Longview) where she was named Volunteer of the Year in 2012 at the age of 81. She loved to garden, feed the birds, especially hummingbirds, and took in any stray dog or cat that crossed her path (and tried with a raccoon or two!).
She is survived by her husband of nearly 74 years, Johnny, her daughter, Brenda and wife Gail, her daughter, Jonna and husband Durren, her son, Rick and her daughter-in-love, Michelle. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Michael, Valerie, John Allen, Bronwen, Morgan, Sayward, and Zach, her great-grandchildren, Chasity, Shelby, Kort, John Allen, Jr., Harley, Brooke, Gemma, and Zoe, and her great-great grandchildren, Ila, Case, Corlee, Addie, and Layla. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy and husband Ralph, sister-in-law, Doris, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, you might consider a donation to the charity of your choice or to the Alzheimer's Alliance of East Texas in her memory.
