Nellie Mae was the daughter of Sarah Sallie Langston & Thomas Newton Bottoms.

Some family observations about Nellie:

"Aunt Nellie never married. She lived her life for other people. She was a Saint if there was ever a saint. She always spoke good of everyone. I never heard her say one thing against anyone. She always looked for the good in people and she always found it." Lester L. Bottoms

"She had a boy friend when she was young and they had planned on getting married. A few days or weeks before they were to get married, he was killed by being thrown from a horse, perhaps while trying to break horses. She had other suitors, but never took them serious and never got married. She remained true to her first love." 16 June 1996, by Oakaline Bottoms.

Aunt Nellie always lived with family--her father as long as he lived. He suffered from palsy and shook so badly he was not able even to feed himself. He required almost total care. Huston Bottoms remembed when Thomas' family visited with his grandparents, Frank and Ellen Bottoms, and how patient and loving Nellie was to her pa.
