Rafael Manuel Julio Guiu, 93, of East Bridgewater, son of Jose Guiu and Marina Llerena Guiu, died Friday, July 11, 2014 at home.
He was born in Havana, Cuba, on April 16, 1921, and came to this country in 1940.  He graduated from Rindge Technical School in Cambridge, MA.
He worked at the Greenfield Tap and Die Co. in Greenfield, MA for 25 years as a mechanical engineer and draftsman.  Later, he became the manager of the Swedenborg Library and Bookrooms on Newbury St. in Boston where he worked for more than thirty years.
Rafael was recently predeceased by his wife of sixty-nine years, Elizabeth, and a daughter, Cecilia Guiu Searle.  He is survived by two daughters, Cristina Wood and Gloria Costello, their husbands, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held July 26, at 11 a.m. at the New Jerusalem, 2 Bedford St., Bridgewater, MA.
