ILLIOPOLIS - Shirley "Dick" Floyd, 91, of Illiopolis died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born March 7, 1917, in Meredosia, the son of Oscar and Martha Surratt Floyd. He married Hazel Louise Birchard in June 1937; she preceded him in death in 2005. He also was preceded in death by a son, Richard Floyd; two brothers, Newt and Woodrow; and two sisters, Clara Mae and Frieda. He was a mechanic and served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Surviving are his daughter; four sons; 29 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; two sisters; brother; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services with the Rev. Melissa Ebken officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
