May Withington, my grandmother, was the daughter of James & Sarah(Garner)Ward. She was born in the village of Woodhouse, South Yorkshire. She arrived in the U. S. on November 7, 1887, her 7th birthday and settled in Hyde Park, MA with her family. After finishing school May worked as a bookkeeper in her father's butcher shop. She later worked in a hat shop. On June 10, 1903 she married George W. Withington of Dedham, MA. They lived in Dedham, where all 4 of their children were born.
