John R. Adams, 88, of Summerfield, Fla., and a native of Berwick, went home to the Lord peacefully in his sleep, as he wanted, on Jan. 19, 2023, at the home of his daughter, Bobbi Jo Duncan, in Belleview, Fla. He was generally healthy and had only recently become bedridden.

John is the son of the late Paul N. Adams Sr. and Orianna (Ash) Adams of Berwick, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was born May 3, 1934, in Berwick, and attended Berwick Area High School. He later served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1959.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul N. Adams Jr., on Oct. 29, 2020; and sisters: Judith Schwab on April 19, 2021, and Leonora "Sis" Garrison, on Oct. 11, 2022. His son, Paul Raymond Adams, passed away on Sept. 13, 2013.

At his request, his body was donated to science, hoping knowledge about the human body could be gained. Those research studies are under the direction of Science Care Donor Memorial Tribute program.
