Karen Jane Hopkins, age 58, of Sedan, Kansas, died Friday, January 28, 2022 at Sedan City Hospital.
Karen was born August 23, 1963 in Sedan, Kansas to Uel Lee Blankinship and Carrol Ann (Hutton) Blankinship. She graduated from Sedan High School. After high school she attended ICC Nursing Program and received her Associate's Degree in Nursing. She worked at Sedan City Hospital and Senior Care for several years as a Registered Nurse. She worked part-time at Caney Nursing Center as the MDS Coordinator.
She married George Hopkins in Sedan on May 27, 1979. They lived in the Sedan area all of their lives.
She worked with her husband George many years hauling hay when the kids were little and also was the driver of the hay monster; she loved identifying birds, and bird watching, loved spending time with her family and babysitting her grandkids.
Survivors include her husband; George Hopkins of the home in Sedan, Kansas; two daughters; Karey Lumley and Brad of Peru, Kansas and Sheila Robertson and husband Skylier Robertson of rural Sedan, Kansas; two sons, Austin Hopkins and wife Debbie of San Diego, California and Eli Hopkins of Peru, Kansas; one brother, Darrel Blankinship; two sisters, Susie Bader of Sedan, Kansas and Mary Werner and husband Brian of Wichita, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; many other family and friends.
Cremation has taken place and services will be announced at a later date.
